NJ Stallions U14G Are CHAMPIONS at WAGS INVITATIONAL!

Oct 26, 2012

The NJ Stallions U14G are crowned CHAMPIONS at the 37th ANNUAL WAGS INVITATIONAL.  Over 5 matches against top regional teams from Pennsylvania East, Virginia, Michigan, Maryland, and South Carolina, the NJ Stallions U14G finished with 4 Wins and 1 Draw, including 2 back to back PK sessions in the Semifinal and Final to earn themselves the WAGS Trophy.

In the first two games, the U14G earned two 2-0 shutouts versus the #2 Ranked PA-EAST team, Lehigh Valley Utd Storm ’98, and the #2 State Ranked MI team, Alliance FC ’99 Black.  Game 3 in the group stage was a very hard fought game against PRINCE WILLIAM SOCCER ’98 (PWSI), the #3 VA Ranked team, in which the girls needed a win or a draw to advance, the game ending with the score 1-1.  The Semifinal against #2 Ranked Maryland team, ASA AZZURI ended in PKs.  The Final versus the #1 South Carolina team, SC UNITED FC-MOUNT PLEASANT, was an exciting physical game on the final day which also ended in dramatic PK fashion, during which the girls executed from the penalty spot with authority.

Head Coach, Russell Farr, said this about the weekend in our nation’s capitol, “Our players over came a lot of adversity coming into this tournament.  They earned this victory by really coming together as a team.  Every one of them played hungry; they challenged themselves and each other in every game.  I’m extremely proud of them.  We plan to take this momentum into the rest of our Fall Season, and into our trip to Tampa for the Super Y Nationals in December”.  After the WAGS event, the NJ Stallions U14G are now ranked #15 nationally in their age group, #8 in Region I, and #5 in New Jersey according to GotSoccer.
