The NJ Stallions-U15G put on a gutsy performance in the freezing cold, making it to the final against high-level teams from New York at the 6th Annual Dix Hills Ultimate Spring Kickoff.

In game 1 against the Quickstrike FC ’96s , they fought hard in an evenly played game that ended in a 0-0 draw.  Then, as a result of a forfeit on one side of the bracket, the Stallions the Quickstrike team went head to head in a pk period on the morning of Day 2 that determined who advanced.  The pks ended dramatically in 10 kicks with NJ Stallions moving into the semifinal vs.  Massapequa Stars, the #7 state ranked team from New York.

In the semifinal, Massapequa and NJ Stallions would both earn chances on goal, only to find themselves scoreless at the end of real time.  After 2 OT periods, neither scored despite having quality chances, and again the Stallions would enter a pk session to move on; this time winning in 11 kicks to advance to the Final.

Early in the first half  of the final vs Rockville Center Dyanamites, Stallions midfielder, Olivia Siclari, scored 2 goals, with assists coming from midfielder, Michele Garcia.  At the end of real time, the score was 2-2.  Two more OT periods would follow with no goals scored, setting up a third pk period to decide the Champion.  Nine kicks were taken to decide the winner.  In the end, with the girls huddled frozen outside the 18 yard line, the girls lost the duel 5-4.  Coach Rivas had this to say, “The defense and midfield play was very strong. We were also aggressive offensively, but I’m most pleased with their speed of play.  Melanie did an amazing job in goal!  They all worked very hard.  I couldn’t be happier with their level of play in the first tournament of the year.”
