Aug 10, 2014

At this year’s NPL Finals held in Greensboro, NC at the outstanding Bryan Park Soccer Complex, the U16G NJ Stallions Dynamite scored 12 goals in their first four games only letting up three.  The Dynamite really caught fire with an extremely impressive 5-0 win in the semifinal vs MFC Fire Elite from Mississippi; a team they played in the preliminary round to a 2-2 draw.  In the championship match, the Dynamite overcame a very stubborn and stingy defense from the the Rio Rapids team, which they achieved in a 1-0 scoreline.  Rio Rapids had not given up a goal en route to the final.  Tomi Kennedy scored a tremendous volley from 18 yards that rocketed past the keeper to finally break their tough back line.  It was a strike worthy of winning any game.  Shaun Cryer said of his team, “They’ve played together the entire year, this championship run was a team effort from day one from every one of our players.”  The NPL National Title caps a great U16 year for the NJ Stallions Dynamite who went on to win several showcases, leagues and tournaments including:  Disney Showcase, Dallas Cup, CASL Showcase, PDA Showcase, Jefferson Cup, NEWSS Tournament and winning the Region I Premier League.
